Payment Types Accepted: Description: For sale: the complete two-volume set of James D. Gordon's Winchester's New Model of 1873: A Tribute, the definitive reference on the Winchester Model 1873 rifle. This is copy #958 of only 1,000 ever printed, and both volumes are hand-signed and inscribed by the author, dated 7-19-99. Together the two volumes run nearly 700 pages covering the full anatomy of the Model 1873 — barrels, stocks, serial numbers, engraving, special variations, muskets and carbines, One of a Thousand and One of a Hundred rifles, the model's use on the American frontier, and a complete index by serial number. This is widely considered the standard reference work for 1873 collectors. What makes this set especially notable: Laid into Volume I is an original 1993 letter from the Cody Firearms Museum / Buffalo Bill Historical Center, addressed directly to author James D. Gordon, providing the factory statistical data (warehouse and shipping dates, configuration) for Gordon's own Model 1873, serial number 121612. This isn't a reproduction — it's the author's own personal factory letter for his own rifle, preserved inside his personal presentation copy of the book. A genuine, one-of-a-kind piece of Winchester collector provenance that doesn't come with any other copy of this set. Condition: Volume I shows some wear at the spine and a small chip/old repair at one corner (see photos). Interior pages, photos, and text are clean and complete in both volumes. Volume II is in excellent condition overall. Includes:
