The Smith & Wesson Model 48 is the K-frame target revolver chambered in .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (.22 WMR). Introduced in 1959 as the K-22 Magnum Masterpiece, it is essentially the magnum counterpart to the Model 17, featuring a six-shot cylinder, adjustable target sights, and excellent accuracy. Early production revolvers were built with the high-polish blue finish, pinned barrel, forged case-colored hammer and trigger, and checkered walnut target stocks with silver S&W medallions.
