This example features the desirable folding-trigger Officer's configuration paired with the classic 4.5-inch octagonal barrel, giving it the unmistakable appearance collectors seek. The visible "1915" marking and Royal Italian Army acceptance stamp place this revolver squarely in the First World War period, making it an excellent representative example of Italy's wartime sidearms. Mechanically, the Bodeo is known for its exceptionally robust construction and innovative Abadie loading system, which was considered advanced for its day. The solid steel frame, enclosed action, and durable lockwork earned these revolvers an outstanding reputation for reliability under harsh military conditions. Despite its age, the design remains one of the strongest late-19th-century service revolvers ever fielded. This revolver retains the distinctive birdshead grip with checkered wood panels and the military lanyard ring mounted at the butt. The folding trigger eliminates the traditional trigger guard, providing a streamlined profile originally intended for officers carrying the revolver in holsters or under dress uniforms. The octagonal barrel, fixed sights, and clean military lines give the pistol a distinctly European appearance that stands apart from contemporary British and American service revolvers. Chambered for the 10.35mm Italian service cartridge, the Model 1889 offered mild recoil, dependable ignition, and adequate military performance for its era. The six-shot cylinder and double-action capability made it a practical sidearm for officers, cavalry, and support troops alike. Original ammunition is now largely collectible, making surviving revolvers like this one primarily desirable as historical military artifacts. Collector appeal is especially strong for World War I production examples displaying matching military characteristics and visible Royal Italian acceptance markings. Based on the observed receiver date, serial number, and configuration, this revolver appears consistent with wartime production around 1915. Honest finish wear, the original folding trigger, octagonal barrel, and intact lanyard ring further enhance its authenticity and desirability for collectors of Italian military arms. ***Please see pictures for condition and wear*** SHIPPING INFORMATION: IF THE ITEM YOU PURCHASE IS C&R ELIGIBLE, WE WILL ACCEPT A C&R LICENSE WE TRY TO SHIP FIREARMS THE SAME DAY PAYMENT/FFL IS RECEIVED.
