Description:
The Ruger Carbine was based on the familiar M1 Carbine esthetic, familiar to the veterans of WWII and Korea. It appealed to those sportsmen looking for a nice little rifle for brush-popping whitetails. In its first release it was named the "Deerstalker," which was retired due to a copy write lawsuit in 1961/62. It was renamed the Ruger Carbine at that point. This one was manufactured in 1963, and features a very nicely figured walnut stock, an enhanced white insert front sight, and has a scope chosen for utility in the dense woods. There is some discussion of the white insert in the front sight, and it is believed to be a personal customization of a previous owner, and actually a nice touch. The owner also added a cheek piece to the stock, and did a fine job of matching grain, and fitting, of the wood. .44 Magnum
