33358-FINE OHIO SILVER MOUNTED PERCUSSION HALF-STOCK RIFLE SIGNED C. W. HOWELL / MARTINS FERRY, O. CIRCA 1850’S. 49” o/a with 33” octagon heavy weight .54 caliber rifled barrel. Original elevator rear and nickel blade front sights. Muzzle measures 1 1/8th” across the flats. Six coin-silver inlays including two “ARROWS” on forend, scroll wedge escutcheons, “SEA SERPENT” side plate, “DEER” on cheek rest. Tiger maple stock with brass mounts. Pewter forend cap. Original wood rod. Double set triggers, engraved back action lock and brass bolster plate. Barrel signed clearly “C. W. HOWELL/MARTINS FERRY, O.”. Steel patchbox. Very good all original with good bore. Lock and triggers in working order. Good bore with well-defined rifling. $1500.
