Model 728 shotguns were built for Harrington & Richardson in the U.S. The Model 728 was based on the Webley & Scott Model 700, as were its siblings the Models 712 (12 gauge) and 720 (20 gauge). All three models were designed specifically for the American market. The example shown here is in very good shape though it does show some wear. On the stock there is a small cracked area just behind the upper tang, shaped like a thumbnail. Please see picture 8. There are a few nicks/light scratches on the right-hand barrel as shown in pictures 4, 7, and 13. There is a small nick on the bottom of the left barrel similar to that in picture 4. Requests for more pictures are welcome. The lower edges of the receiver exhibit some finish wear of the color case-hardening, mostly on the left side, the right having significantly less wear. It is easy to see that Webley & Scott applied a real color case-hardening finish on the 728 as it has that beautiful lustre to it, unlike the cheap chemical imitation finish used on modern firearms, almost always of which has a dull or flat coloration to it (and which has almost no resistance to wear). Both bores are in excellent condition. The right-hand barrel has a modified choke while the left-hand barrel has a full choke. As recoil from a 28 gauge is very light compared to the larger gauges, there is no recoil plate or pad, the back of the stock having a checkered face similar in appearance to a recoil plate. Mechanically, 728 functions correctly, including the ejectors. The shotgun comes with its original case and accessories. Despite some wear, overall this is a very nice shotgun, and its rarity makes it a must have for any SxS collection. media screen {} Price: $4,995.00 Shotgun Gauge: 28 Gauge Manufacturer: Webley & Scott Model: Model 728 Serial Number: 728085 Barrel Length: 25.0 inches (635 mm) Bore: Smoothbore Chambers: 2.75 inches (70 mm) Ejectors: Break-open activated ejectors Condition: Used - Very Good Barrels: Carbon steel Barrel Type: Ribbed Action: SxS Shotgun, Boxlock action.
