The Beretta S3 EL represents the pinnacle of Beretta’s post-war sidelock production, and this 1968 example—engraved by master engraver G. Turrini—is an outstanding representation of the model. Built with hand-detachable sidelocks, ejectors, non-auto safety, and a single non-selective trigger, the S3 EL was Beretta’s answer to the finest London-pattern guns of its era. Chambered in 12 gauge (2.75") with 28.5" barrels choked Modified (.028") and Full (.037"), it is ideally configured for driven birds or formal game shooting. Weighing 7 lb 7 oz with balanced dimensions (14.25" LOP, 1.75" DAC, 2.5" DAH), it carries the authoritative feel expected of a best-quality sidelock while maintaining elegant handling characteristics. A matted vent rib with gold front bead completes the classic sighting arrangement.
Condition is very good overall, showing only faint, honest wear consistent with careful use. The bores are clear, the trigger breaks crisp, ejectors are strong and in-time, and the action locks up tight—mechanically excellent throughout. The coin-finished action is adorned with fine relief floral scroll engraving by G. Turrini, signed discreetly beside the trigger guard. The barrels retain nearly all of their original blued finish. The straight-grip walnut stock displays beautiful flowing grain and sharp, fine checkering, with only light handling marks noted. With its desirable hand-detachable sidelock action and master-level engraving, this S3 EL stands as a refined and highly collectible example of Beretta’s top-tier craftsmanship from one of its most respected production eras.
