The Model 1894 Cowboy Limited combines the fast-handling Marlin action with a full 24" octagonal barrel, ten-round magazine and classic straight-grip walnut furniture. Chambered for both .44 Remington Magnum & .44 Special, it brings serious versatility to the range, the woods and the collection.
The longer octagonal barrel adds sight radius, forward balance and useful velocity while giving the rifle the unmistakable silhouette of a traditional frontier repeater. Deep-cut Ballard-style rifling was engineered to perform with the broad range of bullet types commonly used in .44-caliber ammunition. The Marbles tang-mounted peep sight sharpens the sight picture and stretches practical accuracy beyond what a basic open-sight setup normally delivers.
Marlin’s side-ejecting, solid-top receiver keeps the action protected and makes the rifle naturally compatible with receiver-mounted optics. The high buckhorn rear sight folds down beneath the tang aperture, while the gold-bead front gives the shooter a bright, fast reference in changing light. Checkered walnut at the grip and forearm provides confident control without sacrificing the lean, traditional lines that define a proper Cowboy Limited.
With .44 Special ammunition, this rifle offers mild recoil and easy handling for target work, steel competition and close-range field use. Loaded with appropriate .44 Magnum hunting ammunition, it steps into a far more authoritative role for deer, hogs and similar game at disciplined lever-gun distances. Range depends on ammunition, conditions and shooter skill, but inside its practical envelope this combination delivers decisive performance with a fast follow-up shot.
The real collector heat is the JM stamp, confirming original Marlin production from the North Haven era before the Remington transition. Add the scarce Cowboy Limited configuration, 24" octagonal barrel, Marbles tang sight and original Marlin bullseye and this rifle checks all the boxes that matter.
