The FN SCAR 16S "Legacy" 5.56 refers to the older, classic generations of FN America's gas-piston rifle before the release of the "Next-Gen" models. While highly reliable and coveted by collectors, the legacy platform is defined by specific physical traits that distinguish it from newer releases. The legacy variants features a Reciprocating Charging Handle; Short-stroke gas piston system with a 2-position adjustable regulator; a traditional monolithic receiver with Picatinny rails (MIL-STD-1913) located at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions and side-folding polymer stock, adjustable for length of pull and cheek weld height. 5.56x45mm NATO
