The Smith & Wesson Model 37 Chief Special Airweight is a lightweight, 5-shot revolver built on the compact aluminum J-frame. Introduced in 1951, it serves as the aluminum-frame counterpart to the steel Model 36. It was highly popular for police backup and civilian concealed carry before production ended in 2005. Built on S&W's smallest frame (the J-frame), featuring a short 2-inch barrel that optimizes the weapon for pocket, ankle, or inside-the-waistband carry.
