Description:

The Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver in .31 caliber was Colt's most successful percussion handgun, over 340,000 completed between 1850-1873, this example SN: 209706 made 1862, with 6" blued barrel and 6-shot cylinder; color case hardened frame / loading lever and plunger / hammer; brass trigger guard and backstrap; and smooth walnut grip. The top of the octagonal barrel with brass cone front sight is marked "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA", traditional notch rear sight in hammer. The cylinder is marked "COLTS PATENT" marking along with SN: "09706" with lightly rolled stagecoach scene. Full SN: "209706" is on all visible components including loading lever. Tightly fitting wedge not removed. Complete in a period mahogany presentation case, brown velvet lined lid / red felt lined base, compartmentalized for the revolver and accessories, a single sided brass American Eagle powder flask and a round brass "ELEY / LONDON" primer cap tin with five primer caps. No bullet mold or bullets.

Condition:

VG+ factory original finish, the barrel toning as photographed with less noticeable changes involving the cylinder, gentle fading of the case colored parts, and mustard toning of the brass components. Grips retaining most of their original varnish. Bright bore. Correct manual function, all cylinders properly indexing upon cocking. Comparable condition relined case and accessories.
