This pistol features the desirable G.H.D. inspection stamp on the frame. The G.H.D. mark represents Brigadier General Guy H. Drewry, the U.S. Army Ordnance officer responsible for military acceptance inspections within his district during World War II. His initials signified that the firearm had successfully passed U.S. military inspection and was accepted for government service. The G.H.D. mark appears on many wartime U.S. military firearms produced under his inspection authority and is considered an important indicator of originality and historical authenticity.
