This is a handsome, long-barreled gun that retains a faintly visible "LONDON FINE TWIST" pattern along both tubes that blends smoothly into a mottled plum-brown and gray patina throughout. Double platinum bands encircle the breech, and platinum blow-out plugs are present on either side. The locks and hammers have small decorative engraved vignettes, with "W & C SCOTT & SON" maker’s names on either side, and new nipples have been installed. Both locks are fully functional and lock firmly. The double wedge-fastened walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes scattered throughout the original oil finish with some mild flattening of the checkering points on the straight wrist. The iron furniture has turned to a plum-brown patina over time, while the German silver escutcheon and small compartment surround have turned to a frosted gray. The gun comes with an original wooden, brass-tipped ramrod, and is a very good example of a high quality British-made percussion fowling double. Antique; Price: $895.00 Antique: Yes |
