Description:
Allen & Thurber Model Pepperbox. Serial # 133. .32 caliber black powder percussion fired double action revolving pepperbox with a 4” ½” fluted barrel cluster with 6 barrels. The bores are very good, no rust. The hammer markings, if any, are illegible. The barrels are marked “Allen & Thurber Worchester” and “Patented 1837 Cast Steel”. The metal finish on the barrels is a cleaned gray patina with scratches heavy pitting. The lightly engraved nipple shield is screwed to the frame and is a worn, cleaned bare gray patina. The lightly engraved frame is a cleaned gray patina with scattered older cleaned surface rust. The walnut grips are in good to very good condition showing scattered light marks with finish wear. The action does not work properly. Worcester marked pepperboxes were made from 1847-1865.
