Offered here is an exceptionally scarce original factory-sealed Remington UMC wooden military ammunition crate that remains exactly as it left surplus distribution decades ago. The crate was manufactured by the famed Remington Arms–Union Metallic Cartridge Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and still displays its original green factory stencil identifying it as containing 1,000 rounds of 11mm Mannlicher lead-bullet rifle ammunition. A surviving SARCO, Inc. inventory label on the lid further documents its later acquisition by one of America's most famous military surplus importers, adding another fascinating layer to its provenance.

The crate remains physically nailed shut and has not been opened for inspection. Because of this, the internal cartridges have not been disturbed since entering the surplus market. Collectors place significant value on unopened ammunition crates because they preserve their original packing methods, factory organization, and historical integrity. Rather than relying on speculation, this listing is based solely upon the surviving exterior factory markings and importer identification visible on the crate itself. The stenciling identifies the contents as 11mm Mannlicher lead bullet ammunition, an obsolete black powder military cartridge developed during the late 19th century for Austro-Hungarian service rifles. These large-caliber cartridges represent one of the earliest generations of metallic military ammunition and are increasingly difficult to locate today, particularly when preserved in original factory shipping containers.

Beyond the ammunition itself, the crate is an outstanding display piece. The dovetail construction, original olive-green military stencil, faded Remington UMC "Kleanbore" advertising graphics, period shipping warnings, and surviving importer markings collectively tell the story of American commercial ammunition production, international military surplus trade, and the golden era of surplus importation during the mid-20th century.
The exterior exhibits honest storage wear accumulated over decades, including scratches, edge wear, small chips, handling marks, discoloration, and scattered surface imperfections consistent with warehouse storage and transportation. These characteristics contribute to its authenticity and collector appeal. The lid remains nailed shut and no attempt has been made to remove or inspect the contents.
