Offered here is an original military surplus wooden ammunition crate containing its complete original load of 300 rounds of .50 Browning Machine Gun (12.7×99mm NATO) M33 Ball ammunition. Unlike the far more common empty display crates, this example remains fully loaded exactly as intended for military storage and transport, making it an increasingly scarce collector and investment piece.The exterior stencil clearly identifies the contents as "300 CARTRIDGES CAL. .50 BROWNING M33 BALL" and lists a gross weight of 40 kilograms with aammunition weight of 35 kilograms. Additional transport markings include the modern UN 0012 small-arms ammunition designation and the Class 1.4S hazardous materials diamond, indicating it was repacked or remained in military logistics service after the adoption of current transportation standards.
The M33 Ball cartridge has served as the U.S. military's standard-purpose .50 BMG ball loading for decades and remains one of the most recognizable heavy machine gun cartridges ever produced. Loaded with a full metal jacket projectile, it was designed for use in the legendary Browning M2 Heavy Machine Gun as well as numerous vehicle-mounted, aircraft, and long-range military weapon systems. The M33 designation has remained the standard U.S. military ball loading specification since the early 1950s.
