The Smith & Wesson Model 1905 4th Change represents the mature evolution of the famous Military & Police Hand Ejector line that would eventually become the legendary Model 10. Built on the proven K-frame and chambered in .38 Special, this revolver earned its reputation through decades of military, police, and civilian service. The desirable 5-inch barrel offers an outstanding balance between portability and sight radius, making it one of the most practical configurations produced.
This revolver delivers the smooth double-action pull and crisp single-action break that made pre-war Smith & Wesson revolvers famous. The tapered 5-inch barrel provides excellent natural balance, while the fixed sights are regulated for practical service shooting. The long sight radius contributes to impressive practical accuracy with standard .38 Special ammunition.
Collector appeal is enhanced by its original numbered checkered diamond walnut service stocks, which remain matched to the revolver. The revolver retains the classic five-screw frame, checkered cylinder release, color-contrasting hammer and trigger, and traditional hand-fitted construction associated with pre-war Smith & Wesson craftsmanship. Honest finish wear is consistent with decades of careful service use while preserving strong collector character.
