Eddystone Model of 1917 (M1917) U.S. Service Rifle
Original U.S. Model of 1917 bolt-action rifle manufactured by Eddystone, Pennsylvania, during World War I. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, the M1917 features a 26-inch barrel, robust Mauser-inspired action, protected front sight, aperture rear sight, and a six-round internal magazine (typically loaded with five-round stripper clips). Eddystone, a Remington subsidiary, produced more M1917 rifles than any other manufacturer, and these rifles equipped the majority of American soldiers serving in France during World War I. Many examples were later refurbished for continued military service, making them an important and highly collectible piece of U.S. military history.
