Description:
The Smith & Wesson Model 49-2 is an all-steel, compact revolver chambered in .38 Special featuring a 1.875-inch barrel and the famous Bodyguard frame. The distinguishing feature of this model is its uniquely shrouded hammer. This design protects the gun from catching or snagging on clothing during a fast draw while still allowing the shooter to manually cock the hammer for precise single-action shooting. The all-steel construction makes the Model 49-2 slightly heavier than aluminum "Airweight" versions (like the Model 38). This extra couple of ounces acts as a natural buffer, making the snappy recoil of self-defense .38 Special ammunition much easier to handle at the range .38 Special
