The Smith & Wesson Model 60-16 is a 5-shot, double-action/single-action revolver built on the small J-frame and chambered in .357 Magnum (which safely accommodates .38 Special +P). While the historical Model 60 was famous for its 1.875-inch ".38 Special Only" barrel, engineering blocks like the "-16" variant signify a modern version featuring S&W's elongated J-Magnum frame, an internal safety lock, and an updated 2.125-inch barrel. The "-16" designation places this revolver firmly in Smith & Wesson's modern production history. It includes a frame-mounted firing pin, metal injection molded (MIM) internal mechanics, and the integrated internal safety lock system located just above the cylinder release latch. .38 Special + P
