Description:
Serial #3160, .455 Webley, 4" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few tiny spots of dark pitting within the grooves along its length. This is a very handsome commercial revolver, made ca. 1897-98, that has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, and barrel, with the metal retaining approximately 85-90% of the original brushed blue finish that has silvered and faded along some of the raised edges, projections, and bearing surfaces, and turned to a smoothly mottled gray and plum-brown patina on some portions of the gripstraps. The revolver has commercial proofs and the checkered hard rubber grips are in fine shape with only some mild flattening of the points on either panel. The lock-up is still tight, and the mechanism functions flawlessly. This is an excellent example of a Boer War era Mk. III Webley, and would make a splendid addition to a collection. Antique
