This is an 1892 souvenir canteen collectible memorabilia from the 26th Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) National Encampment, held in Washington, D.C., in September of that year. These vintage keepsakes were highly prized by Civil War veterans gathering for reunions. This example is in very good original condition with a very nice patina, original cork stopper, no splits, light bumps. It is 4 ½" round, not including the spout. Nice piece of history.;
