Manufactured by the legendary Cugir Arsenal in Romania, the PAR-3 is one of the most unusual factory AK variants ever imported into the United States. Chambered in 5.56×45 NATO and built on a true stamped AK-pattern receiver, the PAR-3 replaces the traditional long-stroke gas system with a manually operated pump-action slide while retaining the unmistakable look, feel, and durability of the Kalashnikov platform. Even better, this example carries the exceptionally low serial number P3-00023-01, making it one of the earliest production examples encountered. Unlike aftermarket conversions, the PAR-3 was engineered and manufactured this way at the Cugir factory. The rifle utilizes the familiar rotating bolt and AK locking system, but the action is cycled by the distinctive pump forend connected directly to the bolt carrier assembly. The result is a rifle that handles like an AK but operates with a smooth manual stroke that has become its defining characteristic. Original hardwood furniture, brown polymer pistol grip, stamped receiver, and factory AK sights complete the authentic Romanian package. The PAR-3 exists because of a unique chapter in American firearms import history. As import restrictions tightened, manufacturers searched for creative ways to continue bringing AK-pattern rifles into the U.S. market. Cugir's answer was brilliantly unconventional—a manually operated AK that preserved the iconic Kalashnikov design while meeting import requirements. Today, that once-overlooked solution has become one of the most collectible and recognizable oddball imports of the era. Unlike home-built curiosities, the PAR-3 is a genuine factory-produced Romanian firearm built by one of the world's most respected military arms manufacturers. Collector interest in factory-import oddities has exploded over the past decade, and rifles like the PAR-3 have become increasingly difficult to locate in untouched original configuration. Enthusiasts who once dismissed these rifles are now actively seeking them alongside MAK-90s, NHM-90s, thumbhole imports, Saiga sporters, VEPRs, and other historically significant import-era firearms. The remarkably low serial number, original Cugir markings, complete factory configuration, and unmistakable pump-action mechanism make this an outstanding addition to any serious AK, Cold War, or import-rifle collection. Some firearms are purchased for utility. Others are purchased because every collector eventually wants the rifle that makes everyone stop and ask, "What the hell is that?" This Romanian Cugir PAR-3 delivers exactly that. It's authentic Cugir craftsmanship, undeniable AK heritage, one of the strangest factory Kalashnikov variants ever imported, and a rifle that becomes more appreciated every year. If your collection celebrates the uncommon, the historically interesting, and the genuinely unforgettable, this PAR-3 belongs in your rack. ***Please see pictures for condition and wear*** SHIPPING INFORMATION: IF THE ITEM YOU PURCHASE IS C&R ELIGIBLE, WE WILL ACCEPT A C&R LICENSE WE TRY TO SHIP FIREARMS THE SAME DAY PAYMENT/FFL IS RECEIVED.
