Original boxed Winchester Model 42 shotguns are seldom encountered, making this an excellent opportunity for the Winchester collector. This shotgun was clearly used as intended in the field and shows honest hunting wear, yet it was cared for well enough that its original factory box remained with it.
The shotgun retains its original finish with noticeable blue wear and the receiver has developed the attractive plum coloration often seen on vintage Winchesters. The 26-inch plain barrel, choked Full, also exhibits typical carry wear consistent with years of honest use.
If you're looking for a pristine example, this isn't it. If you're looking for an authentic, unaltered Winchester Model 42 with its original factory box—a combination that rarely survives together—this is a wonderful collector's piece that represents exactly what a well-loved Model 42 should be.
