The Egyptian Hakim rifle is a 1950s-era semi-automatic battle rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser. Manufactured domestically with tooling and design concepts purchased from Sweden, it is an upgraded, heavier variant of the Swedish Ag M42 Ljungman.

Operational History
General Gamal Abdul Nasser initiated the Hakim's production to build an indigenous small-arms capability following the 1952 Egyptian revolution. It served as the primary battle rifle for Egyptian armed forces in the 1950s and 1960s before being replaced by the Kalashnikov (AK-47/AKM) platform. The design was eventually downsized into a carbine variant chambered in 7.62 × 39mm known as the Rasheed.
