The Beretta 682L Sporting is one of the most respected target shotguns ever produced by Beretta, earning a reputation for exceptional durability, handling, and reliability on sporting clays, skeet, and trap fields around the world. Introduced as the premium Luxury (L) variant of the legendary 682 series, this model combines Beretta's proven competition action with elegant game scene engraving, making it equally appealing to the shooter and collector. Manufactured in 1985, this early 682L represents the classic era of Beretta competition shotguns.
Chambered in 12 gauge with 2.75-inch chambers, the shotgun is fitted with 28-inch barrels weighing an ideal 8 pounds 2.8 ounces. The barrels utilize the proven Mobil Choke system and include an excellent assortment of choke tubes consisting of two Skeet, one Improved Cylinder, one Modified, one extended compensated Improved Cylinder, and one extended compensated Light Modified, along with the original Beretta choke wrench. The 10mm flat matted ventilated rib is fitted with a red fiber-optic front bead for a bright and highly visible sight picture.
The shotgun is built on Beretta's renowned boxlock action featuring a single selective trigger, ejectors, and non-automatic safety. The trigger position is adjustable, providing approximately ±0.5 inch of length-of-pull adjustment to fine-tune the fit. Mechanically, the shotgun remains in good overall condition. The bores are clear, the action is smooth and locks up tightly, the trigger is crisp, and the ejectors are strong and in time.
The coin-finished receiver is beautifully engraved with classic Beretta game scenes accented by fine scrollwork. The left side depicts three ducks in flight over a marsh, while the right side features three quail flying through a mountain landscape. The underside of the receiver showcases a flying woodcock, framed by banners bearing "P. Beretta" above the scene and "Mod. 682 L" below. The tasteful engraving gives the shotgun a refined appearance while preserving the sporting character that made the 682L so desirable.
The blued steel barrels exhibit light thinning of finish, consistent with careful use over the years. The shotgun is stocked with a sporting-style walnut stock and matching target forend featuring strong checkering and a subtle right-hand palm swell. The wood displays honest handling marks accumulated through years of responsible use while remaining attractive and fully serviceable.
The shotgun is housed in its original Beretta ABS hard case, completing an increasingly desirable vintage Beretta sporting package.
