The Taurus 709 Slim is a 7-shot, striker-fired, polymer-frame subcompact pistol chambered in 9mm Luger featuring a 3.2-inch barrel introduced in2009, it was Taurus's flagship entry into the ultra-slim single-stack concealed carry market, predating competitors like the Smith & Wesson Shield and the Glock 43. Unlike most modern polymer striker-fired pistols, the 709 Slim utilizes a unique Single-Action/Double-Action trigger system. In normal operation, racking the slide partially pre-cocks the striker, providing a crisp, lightweight single-action trigger pull for standard shooting However, if a hard primer fails to ignite, the gun drops into double-action mode, allowing the shooter to pull the trigger a second time to restrike the primer without needing to manually clear the round. 9mm Luger
