The U.S. Model 1898 rifle was manufactured in the Springfield Armory. The Krag was the United States main service rifle from 1892 through 1903 when it was replaced by the Model 1903 rifle. Like many surplus bolt-action rifles it was sporterized to make a serviceable hunting rifle. Manufactured 1900. .30-40 Krag
