Description:
Remington Model 887 Nitro Mag 12 GA Shotgun
The Remington Model 887 Nitro Mag is one of Remington's more unusual modern pump-action shotguns. It was introduced in 2009 as an all-weather successor to the legendary Model 870, with a steel receiver completely encapsulated in a molded polymer coating called ArmorLokt™, making it highly resistant to rust, scratches, and harsh weather. Production ended in 2015 after a relatively short run.
Features of this shotgun:
  • 12 gauge
  • Pump action
  • Matte black ArmorLokt finish
  • 28½-inch vent-rib barrel (nominally sold as a 28-inch barrel)
  • Chambered for 2¾", 3", and 3½" Super Magnum shells
  • Designed primarily for waterfowl, turkey, and other heavy hunting loads
The 3½-inch chamber gives it the ability to fire the heaviest steel-shot waterfowl loads as well as standard hunting ammunition.
History
The Model 887 was intended to compete with the Benelli Nova and Mossberg 835/535 series.
Major features included:
  • Steel receiver completely covered with ArmorLokt polymer
  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • Twin action bars
  • Synthetic stock with molded checkering
  • Designed for extremely wet, muddy, or snowy hunting conditions
Hunters generally appreciate the 887 for excellent weather resistance, good reliability after early production improvements , ability to handle heavy 3½-inch magnum loads and smooth pointing qualities similar to the Model 870.
NOTE: WHEN WE ACQUIRED THE 887 THE ORIGINBAL OWNER PASSED ALONG THIS ADDITIONAL STNTHETIC STOCK STATING IT WAS THE ORIGINAL ONE GOING WITH THIS SHOTGUN. We do not know if this was the case but we will include it in the purchase at no extra charge.
