This Springfield Armory M1 Garand is built on a desirable World War II receiver, serial number 430306, placing production in approximately May 1941 as Springfield was rapidly expanding output ahead of America's entry into World War II. The receiver markings remain sharp and well defined, while the rifle presents with the classic profile collectors expect from an honest U.S.G.I. Garand. Rather than representing an untouched original, this rifle reflects the authentic post-war life of America's service rifles as they were maintained, rebuilt, and returned to service.

The rifle is fitted with a Springfield Armory barrel dated 11-54, making it a verified post-war replacement installed during Cold War rebuild programs. The barrel markings are crisp and easily legible. Visible rifling appears strong from the muzzle photograph, though muzzle wear and throat erosion gauges were not provided. It retains the proven long-stroke gas operating system, standard gas cylinder assembly, and post-war T105 rear sight, giving the rifle the dependable shooting characteristics that have made rebuilt Garands favorites among collectors who enjoy taking their rifles to the range.

The operating rod is correctly marked D28287-12SA, a Springfield component associated with later production and rebuild programs. The walnut stock shows honest military handling marks accumulated through decades of service while retaining a visible circled proof "P" behind the trigger guard. A clear left-side acceptance cartouche cannot be confirmed from the available photographs, and no arsenal rebuild stamp or import mark can be positively verified. Overall, the rifle displays the appearance of a legitimate U.S.G.I. arsenal rebuild assembled from government-inspected serviceable components rather than a recently refinished commercial restoration.

Officially adopted in 1936, the U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, M1 forever changed infantry combat by giving American soldiers a rugged semi-automatic rifle while most opposing armies still relied on bolt-action designs. General George S. Patton famously described the Garand as "the greatest battle implement ever devised," a reputation earned across World War II and Korea.Springfield Armory manufactured the vast majority of wartime Garands, and rifles like this one illustrate the continuing evolution of the platform as they remained in U.S. military service well into the Cold War before ultimately finding their way into the hands of today's collectors and marksmen.

Collectors appreciate rifles like this because they tell the complete military story—not simply wartime production, but decades of continued American service. A scarce May 1941 Springfield receiver paired with a documented November 1954 Springfield replacement barrel creates an honest, historically correct U.S.G.I. rebuild that delivers both collector appeal and outstanding shootability.
