Few M1 Garands command attention like this one. Built on a Springfield Armory receiver serialed 4335974 and produced in late 1952, this rifle has been professionally assembled in an authentic post-war military configuration featuring the iconic U.S. M7 grenade launcher. Combined with its mounted M15 grenade launcher sight and inert practice rifle grenade, this is the type of display that immediately stands apart from the average Garand and captures the evolution of America's legendary battle rifle during the Korean War era.
The rifle is fitted with a Springfield Armory barrel dated July 1963, an entirely appropriate post-war barrel for this receiver and consistent with arsenal maintenance practices of the period. The bore appears bright with strong visible rifling, while the parkerized finish presents exceptionally well. The rifle retains the proper grenade-launching lock screw, allowing the M7 launcher to mount correctly, and is equipped with the later T105-style rear sight assembly that became standard during post-war service.
Visible components include a Springfield bolt marked D28287-12SA with W8A heat lot, a U.S. G.I. walnut stock displaying honest service wear, and a rack number "11" applied to the stock. The M15 grenade launcher sight is correctly mounted to the left side of the stock and is clearly marked "SIGHT, GRENADE LAUNCHER, M15," making this a remarkably complete military accessory package.
John C. Garand's revolutionary semi-automatic rifle changed infantry combat when it entered U.S. service in 1936, and its capabilities continued to expand after World War II. During the Korean War, rifles equipped with the M7 launcher and M15 sight allowed soldiers to deploy fragmentation, smoke, signaling, illumination, and practice rifle grenades far beyond hand-thrown distances.
