Description:
Rare and seldom seen for sale 1895 Marlin Extra Lightweight Rifle in 45-70. Marlin made these rifles between 1912-1917 to compete with the 1886 Winchester extra lightweight rifles. It has a 22" round barrel and 1/2 magazine. Very nice bore, I will rate it an 8 on a scale from 1 to 10. Barrel and tube exhibit 50% blue with a gray / brown patina mixing in. The is an area of light pitting on left side of barrel near forend cap. Correct front and rear sights. Receiver retains molten case colors with gray / brown patina mix. Lower tang shows a good amount of case colors. Traces of color on hammer, bolt, and lever as well. Both forend and buttstock are in good condition showing normal handling marks, scrapes, and scratches. Correct buttplate. All in all an extremely rare 1895 Marlin Rifle that seldom see in this configuration.
