Description:
SERIAL NUMBER “10” Antique COLT “NEW LINE” .38 RF Pocket Revolver WILD WEST

VERY EARLY PRODUCTION Conceal & Carry SELF DEFENSE

Here Ancestry Guns presents a Scarce Very Early Production Antique Single Action Colt New Line .38 Caliber Rimfire Revolver, made in 1874 with a production run between 1874 and 1880 in Hartford, Connecticut. This example bears the serial number “10” on the left of the grip frame and rear face of the cylinder, while the bottom of the barrel is number "19", which may be a factory error given the close proximity. A single action revolver, this small pocket revolver was one of a number of inexpensive handguns produced by Colt from 1873 to 1884. The “New Line” was Colt’s first production model handgun chambered for .38 caliber and outnumbered all other pistols in Colt’s “New Line” group. This revolver utilized a .38 cartridge matched to a 5-shot fluted cylinder fitted to a 2-1/4” long round barrel. About 12,516 were produced in .38 caliber during its six year production run.

The New Line series of revolvers, including all calibers, was a single action pocket revolver introduced by the Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in 1873 and continued through 1884. Two years after the Colt House Revolver, a year after the Colt Open Top, and almost simultaneously alongside the Colt Peacemaker, the Colt New Line was one of the first metallic cartridge, rear-loading revolvers manufactured by Colt.

The overall condition is fine. Original blue and vivid case colors are preserved. Excellent action. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Markings are legible and clear. Serial number “10” on the left of the grip frame and rear face of the cylinder, while the bottom of the barrel is number “19”. This could be a factory error as the barrel wear matches the rest of the example. Fine grips. Here is a very handsome and collectible specimen of the Colt New Line .38!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
