Description:
Here we have a rare and very unusually configured Best Quality Joseph Lang & Son, 102 New Bond St. London, full sidelock 12 gauge over/ under with all the options. Completed on Nov. 15, 1922, this gun has 1 1/4 ounce proofs with factory 2 3/4" chambers, so marked and is in original proof with .730" bores in upper & lower. It has 32" chopper lump solid file cut rib barrels, ejectors, Lang Patent SST in the middle position with selector on right lockplate, Lang Patent Detachable locks, and SPG stock of highly figured French walnut. Weight is 8 lbs. 5 ounces, LOP from Middle position is 14 5/8" to a checkered butt with 1 3/4" DAC, 2 7/8"DAH, and 3/8" cast off. Built on the 1912 Dryden & White patent, assigned to Lang in 1913, and also with Southgate ejectors. Mr. Francis Lovel of Atkin, Grant & Lang kindly supplied the above ledger information on S/N 16298, along with the facts that it was built for McCurdy & Co. in England for the princely sum of 143 English pounds. The ledger also states that the gun was "Highest Quality" and was " Engraved to Design" by none other than Harry Kell, who signed both lockplates with 'HK'. Kell's name is thrown around and many more guns are attributed to his engraving than he could possibly have done, but this one is one of the rare ones signed by him. If you want a sporting clays gun that will turn heads, this is the one. There weren't very many of these Lang O/U guns ever built.
