They are classic, lightweight field guns highly regarded among collectors for their solid lock-up, heritage, and natural pointing ability. Key Characteristics & Performance Thomas Wild was a prolific Birmingham-based gunmaker who produced both high-end double guns and affordable, utilitarian single-shot hammer guns.  Handling & Build: These single-shot hammer guns typically feature English walnut stocks and traditional Anson-release splinter forends. Because they lack the bulk of a second barrel, they are incredibly quick to the shoulder and excellent for walked-up upland game or small-game hunting.  Lock-Up: They often feature robust actions, such as rebounding hammers and Greener cross-bolt locking, which ensure reliable operation.  Proofing & Ammunition: Vintage 1920s models were typically built with 2.5-inch or 2.75-inch chambers.
