This cased set has two sets of barrels, one is a 12 gauge shot gun set measuring just under 30" and the other is a 65 caliber Double Rifle Set measuring 26.25". Both sets of barrels are in excellent condition with all of the original brown Damascus patterned finish with gold inlays. There are minor assembly scratches that are underneath the barrel that are not visible when the barrels are on the action. The action of the gun is exquisite with 6 master level engraved panels showing hunting scenes. Its important to not that these panel scenes are not merely engraved, but they are chiseled and high relief. Each panel is bordered in scrolls of gold inlays. The action is signed on the right hand side “M. Mach" and on the left hand side “IN PRAG" The stock is a beautiful burled walnut that is exquisitely carved in intersecting scrolls. The right hand side of the stock id beautifully carved with the Roman goddess Dianna, who was goddess of the Hunt. The left hand side of the stock is carved with what appears to be a ruffled grouse. Behind the trigger guard is a carved horn grip piece . The detail is exceptional; even underneath the cheek piece is carved in scroll work. The butt plate has the serial number and there is an engraved hunter surrounded by cross hatch checkering. This gun comes in the original case with the original lining. The top interior label is marked “M. Mach / Prague" over a maker’s crest. All of the original accessories are present. The case is beautifully lined in leather. The outside leather has been completed later, everything else about the case is original. This gun is truly a work of art and certainly of royal quality!
