High Standard Model R-100, Sentinel, Nine-Shot, 22LR Revolver
SALE PENDING
Description: The Harrington & Richardson (H&R) story is a little confusing beginning in 1871 and ending in 2015 when H&R 1871, LLC (then a part of Remington Outdoor Company) ceased production. This High Standard Model R-100 revolver is a single-action/double-action, nine-shot revolver, with a 5-inch barrel, a swing-out fluted cylinder, a ¼-inch-wide grooved hammer spur, a ¼-inch-wide grooved-face trigger, plastic checkered grips, windage-adjustable removeable rear sight, and fixed removeable front sight. The left side of the barrel is stamped “HI-STANDARD” (first line) and “.22 CAL.” (second line). The right side of the barrel is stamped “HIGH STANDARD MFG. CORP. (first line) and “HAMDEN, CONN. U.S.A. (second line). The right side of the frame, just below the front end of the cylinder, is stamped “R-100” (first line) and the serial number below that (second line). The left side of the frame, below the hammer bears a medallion with “SENTINEL” on the lower portion and an eagle above it. This sale come with a EIG brand WS-M6 brown leather holster. The High Standard Model R-100 was manufactured in 1955. I am at a quandary as to how to rate the condition of this revolver. On the one hand, I could easily rate it at 95 percent or even 98 percent, as it looks very good and functions very well. The action is very tight. The barrel is in very excellent condition overall – 98 percent. There is a little holster wear on the left side of the muzzle and just a touch on the right side of the muzzle. The cylinder is also in excellent condition – 98 percent, but it does have the usual cylinder-lock ring. There are no dents, scratches, or other damage to the frame. There is not rust anywhere on the gun. The brown plastic wrap-around checkered grips are like new. The checkering is perfect - deep and crisp, with no signs of wear or damage or blemishes – 100 percent. However, the frame is anodized aluminum, and its original black finish is 98 percent gone, with just a few touches still visible around exposed pins and a little on both sides of the frame, just behind the cylinder. What is left is a mostly uniform grayish-color frame that actually does not look too bad. With 98 percent of the original finish gone, most guns might be rated at about 60 percent or lower, but this revolver is clearly in much better condition. As you review the photos, Io must warn you that the high-resolution photo makes the bluing on the barrel and chamber looks much less than the 98 percent that I rated it. As I said, the barrel and cylinder are in excellent condition. The leather holster is also in very good shape. Other than light scratches, it is supple with no cracks due to drying and no broken threads. If interested, I will send you a URL with the “The high Standard Sentinel Revolver”.
