A factory letter accompanies this outstanding investment grade Smith & Wesson .357 Registered Magnum, Reg. No. 4636 confirming the configuration and detailing its original shipment on April 10, 1939 to the Sheriff Department in the New London County Court House, ATTN: Sheriff George Hoxie in New London, Connecticut. The gun is equipped with a 5” barrel, original bright blue finish, matching checkered walnut silver medallion magna grips, King 112 rear sight blade and Baughman front sight on a King base. Note the factory inscription ‘NL Co. 09’ as this was part of a 12 gun shipment for the Sheriff’s office numbered NL Co. 1-12. Among the few surviving law enforcement S&W’s in top-shelf condition, this amazing example retains 99% of the original blue finish. The matching numbered magna grips are every bit as crisp and mint as the gun itself. The original case colors show virtually no wear. A fabulous pre-war .357 Registered Magnum that will have a special place in any martial collection!
