Description:
The Ruger Blackhawk revolver was a descendant of the Ruger Single-Six revolver, which was developed in 1953 after Colt discontinued the Single Action Army, leaving behind a gap in Western cowboy-style revolvers. The Blackhawk arrived in 1955 originally in .357 Magnum and soon chambered in .44 Remington Magnum as it arrived on the market, directly competing with the Smith & Wesson Model 29. In 1973, the New Model Blackhawk was introduced with a transfer bar safety mechanism, which helps to prevent accidental discharges from slipping off the hammer or dropping the firearm. This New Model Blackhawk is in good condition with perfect timing and lockup and great condition of barrel and cylinder. The gun can be dated back to a 1977 production. The revolver has an adjustable rear sight with textured ramped front sight and walnut grips with silver Ruger medallions. The revolver is a single-action only revolver and holds six rounds of .357 Magnum or .38 S&W Special and has a 6 ½" barrel. This revolver can be best described as in "fair" condition: The gun has finish wear on the cylinder from rotation, the hammer has oxidation, the frame and trigger guard have scattered areas of finish wear and pitting, and the barrel's external surface and ejector rod have noticeable scratches and dings. The inside of the barrel also has one notable patch of rust on one side. The action and operation of the gun otherwise is smooth, but the gun could use some extra care. This Ruger New Model Blackhawk does not include a box or case. .357 Magnum
