1880's Antique Belgian Pocket Double Action Revolver in .380 Revolver Caliber (.38 S&W Short or .38 Short Colt)
SOLD
Description: This is a very cool little factory two-tone Belgian-made DA/SA pocket revolver. It is a high-quality piece that features a blued 3.25" inch long octagon barrel on a blued frame with a nickel plated cylinder, loading gate, cylinder pin, and ejector. The hammer and trigger are factory case-colored. The original grips are still in place and are hand checkered Walnut. These little imported revolvers were very popular in the 1870s until the turn of the century, and there were a number of different manufacturers and models. This particular example is not maker marked but carries Liege proofs which tells us it was made in Belgium. It is a double action design that can be fired in double or single action. It is chambered in the .380 Revolver cartridge that was developed by the British and was a popular chambering during that time period. The .38 S&W Short and .38 Short Colt rounds were both derived from this .380 Revolver cartridge and should interchange (we tried the .38 S&W and it fits in the cylinder). As you can see in the pictures provided, this revolver is in great shape overall and is quite attractive. The original factory blue finish shows a little speckling and high edge wear but overall is still intact. The case colored hammer still shows a lot of nice color but the case colors on the trigger have been worn to a gray patina. The original nickel finish on the cylinder, cylinder pin, loading gate, and ejector rod is in excellent shape, with just some minor handling wear and spots of finish wear. The original grips are in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs. The checkering still looks very nice as well. The bore in this Belgian Pocket revolver still shows a lot of strong rifling. There is some scattered light pitting but there are no major imperfections that would prevent it from shooting accurately. This antique revolver is in 100% functional working order. The action is "in time" whether turned in single or double action operation, and the trigger functions perfectly. If you have been looking for a unique and interesting addition for your antique weapons collection this Belgian revolver would be an excellent choice. Being that it is an antique weapon it can be sent directly to your door, no FFL required.
