Colt Officers Model .38 Belonging to Oklahoma Lawman Bill Fossett. This gun belonged to famed lawman and U.S. Marshall Bill Fossett. W.D. Fossett, better known as Bill, was a legendary lawman out of the Oklahoma Territory. He was born in the 1850’s and died in 1940. During his career, he served in several capacities as a lawman including U.S. Marshall. It has been said That Fossett killed more people than any other lawman at that time. Accompanying this is several other research documents that previous owners of this rig have found. This gun is inscribed on top strap “W.D. “Bill” Fossett/ U.S.M.-OKLA.”. There are some really wild stories in all the documentation of all of the fights he was in. This is a very nice gun with it being a flat top and having the factory checkered back strap. Very good condition overall. This gun has an amazing history by a very colorful lawman that was in more shoot-outs than can be believed.
