Description:
Standard configuration Colt Cobra .38 Special lightweight revolver produced from 1950-1981, this example made 1968, with serial number 268183-LW in nickel finish featuring 2" barrel and 6-shot cylinder. This First Model example manufactured from 1950-1971 weighs 15 ounces unloaded with its lightweight aluminum-framed "Coltalloy" construction built on Colt's "D" frame. Fixed front sight and rear sight notch. Left side of barrel marked "COBRA" and ".38 SPECIAL CTG" with small engraved rampant Colt symbol on frame; right side of barrel bears "COLT'S PT F.A. MFG. CO." and "HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A" markings. Serial number 268183-LW appears on frame with matching number on crane. Fitted with checkered wooden grips, each panel with silver Colt medallions. Complete with Colt logo-ed box, end label referencing "COLT COBRA REVOLVER", ".38 SPECIAL", "2 INCH BBL", "NICKEL FINISH", handwritten notation "#268183-L.W." inside box / repeated in large handwritten numerals on bottom.
