1940 Colt Officers Model Target chambered in 38 special with a 7.5 inch barrel and factory oven blue finish. This is a Battle of Britain gun. In 1940 the British Purchasing Commission was literally buying anything and everything they could to arm the civilian population in anticipation of a Nazi invasion as the air war was in full swing over England at the time. As the invasion never happened most of these were returned after the war un-issued. As seen in the photos this one has all of the proper British proof stamps on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. This is a no excuses collector grade gun. As seen in the photos it is near perfect and overall the finish rates a very strong 99%+. The cylinder face, recoil shield, and forcing cone are very clean. The action is crisp, the lock up is tight, and the boar is bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves. The factory grips are in the same excellent condition as the gun itself with sharp checkers throughout.
