This Harrington & Richardson Auto Ejecting Police Second Model is a good example of late 19th- / early 20th-century American firearms. Chambered in .38 S&W with a five-shot cylinder, this top-break revolver features H&R’s innovative automatic ejecting mechanism. A hallmark of the Police Model, this H&R has the patented bobbed hammer designed. The original finish shows honest wear, some flaking and a pitting of the nickel finish and thinning in areas. The factory checkered hard rubber grips remain solid with shot target design, showing only minor handling marks and no significant cracks or chips. Mechanically, the revolver appears to function as intended. The double action functions as it should. The cylinder appears to lock-up and have proper cylinder timing. The auto-eject system operates as expected. The bore shows defined rifling with some pitting that is common in older black powder cartridge revolvers. Note that this revolver appears to function as intended though we did not test fire the firearm. All patent dates and manufacturer markings remain legible. The number on the cylinder matches the serial number.
