Built as an accurized target revolver, the Smith & Wesson Model 14-3 is a classic K-frame revolver, a staple for any S&W enthusiasts. Originally called the 'K-38 Target Masterpiece' in the early 1950s, the Model 14 is a .38 S&W Special (AKA .38 Special) 6-shot revolver with a double/single-action trigger. The revolver features a pinned 6" barrel, specially-made with an adjustable rear sight and grooved rib leading to a 1/8" Patridge target front sight. The 14-3 is the fourth iteration of the K-38/Model 14 and is fitted with color case-hardened trigger and hammer and walnut stocks. The trigger is grooved and has an adjustable travel stop, the target hammer is ½" wide for easy cocking in single-action mode, and the stocks are checkered with diamonds around the screw and a silver S&W medallion on either side. The frame's front and back staps are also grooved. This revolver, built in 1971, is in quite good condition for a revolver intended for a great deal of target shooting. The barrel is in very good condition, with the original finish still intact and only beginning to discolor from age and no pitting or rust inside the bore. The cylinder is also clean and operates smoothly and locks firmly into place. The gun's overall cosmetic quality is very good, though there is some surface rust in certain areas on the top of the gun: the face of the reciever has some rust surrounding where the barrel attaches. The rear target sight also exhibits some rust on the grooves and sides of the sight. Some of the bluing has worn away at the muzzle, but to be expected from a gun which was used for its intended purpose. This revolver does not include a case or box. .38 S&W Special
