Smith & Wesson Model 36
.38 Special “Chief’s Special” – Early 1960s Flat Latch – Beautiful Original Example
Description: Presented here is a beautiful early 1960s Smith & Wesson Model 36, serial number 524321, complete with its original factory blue box and full paperwork set, including warranty card, instruction sheet, and period cleaning tools. Revolvers from this era rarely remain this complete, making this an exceptional find for the dedicated S&W collector.
This example features the desirable flat latch cylinder release, pinned barrel, and original diamond pattern walnut grips — all correct for early 1960s production. The factory blue finish is deep and clean, showing only minimal handling evidence. The grips are sharp and properly fitted. Mechanically, the revolver is excellent with tight lockup, smooth action, and a bright, crisp bore.
Box is solid, correctly labeled, and matches the revolver. Paperwork is clean and fully intact. This is the kind of complete package that rarely surfaces outside long held private collections.
