Colt SAA 44-40 Nickel 5-1/2" Antique 1884 CA OK
Description:
*Sold, Pending Payment* Colt Frontier Six Shooter 44-40 caliber. All matching numbers, including the grips. Mechanically fine, smooth action and lock up, strong springs, crisp trigger. We rate the bore 80%: complete rifling from front to back, mild, scattered corrosion in the grooves, clean forcing cone, crisp breech. Chambers rate similarly. Bore and chambers may scrub-out better with some effort. Fair amount of dried gunk and dust in the nooks and crannies...Would benefit from a good complete detail cleaning and lube. Nickel condition is pretty obvious from the pics, but, no serious corrosion pitting on the steel. Nice nitre/fire blue remaining on trigger and screws. Grips are solid, intact, and retain a high level of detail. Colt Research letter, included with sale, indicates this was one of a five gun shipment to Hartley and Graham in New York City, in 1884. Overall, a great "Shooter Grade" original Single Action Colt, with alot of life left in it. Ser# 942xx made 1883/4 ANTIQUE status. Need copy of Drivers License to ship.
