Colt RARE SAA 44 Russian Long Fluted, 95% blue/case color, a good bore, 5 ½” barrel, Manufactured in Hartford Connecticut in 1915 on top of the barrel is the one line Colt address on the left side of the barrel is Russian and S&W special 44 on the side of the frame is a two line patent address with the rampant horse in a circle the barrel the cylinder in ejector housing are original blue color, the frame has been re-case color and the back strap and trigger guard’s been re-blue. Comes with two piece checkered floral delete deep dish medallions wood grips that letters to the gun also comes with checkered trigger that letters to the gun both are in real good condition mechanically in good condition with tight cylinder lockup in single-action this is an all matching serial number gun. Comes with a factory letter this gun was shipped to Powell & Clement Company in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 9, 1915 in a 1 gun Shipment Serial Number 3297XX This Gun “Will need a “C&R or FFL””
In 1913 Colt found themselves with an excess of surplus 1878 Double Action cylinders and they used them to build SAA's longflute. Since they were basically the same dimensions as Single Action cylinders, they decided to make the small modifications required (Namely Bolt notches on the outside periphery) and use them in the Single Actions. Less than 1500 long flute SAA's were built. Since the other model cylinders had already been fabricated with the long flute, those Colt SAA's had that feature. Colt SAA revolvers manufactured between 1913-1915, they produced in all three barrel links a total of 28 guns in the 44 Russian.
