S&W MODEL 1950 TARGET 4 INCH BLUE - RARE - RARE - RARE
Description: REDUCED - This very rare S&W 1950 Target 4 Inch Revolver in .44 Special caliber is in excellent original factory condition, with only slight holster blue wear to both sides of the muzzle. Obviously the revolver was well cared for by the original owner. Bore and chambers are excellent. Revolver is exactly as pictured in the STANDARD CATALOG OF SMITH & WESSON by Supica & Nahas, inlcuding the smooth dark target grips with S&W medallians which appear to be rosewood but could be dark walnut. Revolver has small S&W Logo on the left side of the frame, with a plain unmarked sideplate. In addition, this revolver has the original Special Order Bright Blue finish which is seldom encountered. Grips are not numbered inside but appear 100% original, with a very fine crack and chip on the upper left rear of the grip which is hardly noticeable. Remember this is an S Prefix 5 Screw revolver, with serial number S118084 from the early 1950's. Some will call this model the Pre Model 24 or the .44 Hand Ejector 4th Model Target. Whatever you wish to call it these are quite scarce. You will find 100 of the 6&1/2 inch barreled 1950 Targets before you encounter one 4 inch revolver. They are that rare and hard to find - in fact more rare than the Pre Model 29 of slightly later vintage. This is the same type revolver that Elmer Keith used to develop his hot .44 Special loads that resulted in the formation of the .44 Magnum cartridge along with the S&W Model 29. A wonderful classic.... SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
