Gorgeous, Near New, S&W Model 1950 (Pre-26), Large Frame 5 Screw Revolver, .45 ACP, with 6.5” Barrel, Target Features, Presentation Case with Accessories, Circa 1953
Description:
Virtually New S&W Model 1950, cal. .45 ACP, with 6.5” barrel fitted with patridge front sight and fully adjustable rear sight. Left side of barrel marked “SMITH & WESSON”. Right side of barrel marked with the caliber and “Model 1950” along with the usual reference regarding manufacture in USA and Smith & Wesson registration. Sideplate with usual S&W Logo. 5 Screw frame fitted with color case hardened target hammer and trigger. Fitted with unnumbered target grips with football cutout and diamonds around screw, as correct for a later manufactured revolver. Full serial number S96926 under frame, inside ejector shroud, and on back on cylinder. Matching assembly number “12050” inside frame and mating surface of crane. Complete with factory mahogany presentation case, lined in dark blue velvet, that was original to a first year S&W Model 57, later era tools to include screwdriver with fluted handle and 4 halfmoon clips.
Condition:
Extraordinarily high condition revolver retaining 99+% bright original blue finish. Cylinder ring just barely breaking the blue. Comparable condition color case hardened small parts and grips. Recoil shield without cartridge head imprints. Mirror bore. As revolver is near new, mechanics were not checked. EXC Case/accessories, the case correct for a first production S&W Model 57 as previously noted. A wonderful large frame S&W .45 ACP from 1953 that would be difficult to improve upon short of finding another with Magna grips in correct case!
